Emergency First Aid Fundamentals
- Would you know what to do if a family member was injured or had a medical issue? Could you prolong the life of a loved one long enough for the ambulance to arrive? While most Americans are comfortable dealing with the cuts and scrapes of everyday life, individuals would be a bit less comfortable dealing with severe, life threatening injuries or illnesses when seconds count, and EMS personnel and the emergency room are minutes (or longer) away. This class explains the proper way to assess a patient, and covers in great detail the proper way to deal with significant issues such as serious bleeding, chest injuries, a compromised airway, spinal injuries, broken bones, and more. This training all boils down to the same thing: sustaining the life of the patient until he or she can be delivered to the emergency room.
Tactical Combat Casualty Care
- Our Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) class continues where Emergency First Aid Fundamentals ends. TCCC training builds on the Emergency First Aid Fundamentals knowledge base but focuses on the application of that knowledge in a tactical environment. TCCC training includes bleeding control and shock management, airway management, Bag Valve Mask (BVM) ventilation, and emergency patient movement in an unsafe environment. We will also review techniques used by EMTs for emergency oxygen administration via non-rebreather mask, spinal immobilization, long bone immobilization, joint immobilization, and more. This is a physical course and might not be for everybody. We will be moving "patients", kneeling, and practicing on the ground. While we will do our best to accommodate everybody, Treating Gunshot wounds course and Stop the Bleed Certification can be offered as separate shorter course if needed.
Course Progression
- These classes are designed to be taken in sequence. First the Emergency First Aid Fundamentals class (8hrs), followed by TCCC (8hrs) to give you a full 16hrs of training in TCCC. These are perishable skills, and graduates of the TCCC course are invited back periodically to keep their skills sharp.
