Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast.
- As I've told my full-contact fighters for 25 years: "basic techniques win fights". If you're in a self defense situation it's a little late to see how fast and accurately you can defend yourself. It's also a little late to gain the skills you might need. A student of tactics understands that accurate speed is the goal. Efficient technique allows a practitioner to thoroughly and safely execute techniques faster and with more accuracy. Tactical skills are physical, perishable, and to be effective tactical training requires practice and repetition. We all need a coach to correct our imperfections and keep us motivated. It is difficult and slow to progress without a good coach. I personally have a select few instructors/coaches that I work with. I did not choose them based on social media subscribers or the latest youtube trends. Whether or not you train with us, find a coach that will push you to be your best.
Our Training Method
- Review of pistol basics and shooting fundamentals (the foundation of everything else) and dryfire drills, then live fire drills of increasing complexity.
Training Subjects
- After the review of safety and basics we'll build skills such as holster draws, the balance of speed and accuracy, moving and shooting, shooting from compromised positions, low light shooting, room clearing, moving/treating injured team members, etc. We'll drill and try to perfect whatever subject is the focus of the day.
Training Offered
- This training is offered in private lessons and to small groups. Monthly we'll invite select students that have successfully completed our Home Defense Fundamentals Course and our Emergency First Aid Fundamentals (or equivalent) for more intense sessions. Training subjects vary month to month, and will be announced by email.
Scheduling Private and Small Group Training
- Classes can for the most part be arranged according to your group's schedule.
- Email to set up training: train@mayhughtactical.com
*Pricing
- Price per class includes classroom and range instruction, and does not include range fees. Range fees are normally about $40 per person. Students must provide their own registered California legal handgun, 200rds of fmj non-steel ammunition (available for purchase at range), 2 magazines, magazine holder, eye protection, hearing protection, closed toed shoes, long pants, crew neck shirt, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen for range day. It is always a good idea to bring snacks, lunch, and drinks. Defensive shooting requires a quality kydex or similar holster designed for your model pistol. No Serpa holsters, pancake holsters, or pocket holsters.
