TacMed 1: TECC Trauma Care ($150* / 4hrs)
- Would you know what to do if a family member was injured or had a medical issue? Could you prolong the life of a loved one long enough for the ambulance to arrive? What if you had to perform these lifesaving measures in a tactical environment? TacMed 1 class explains the proper way to assess a patient, and covers in great detail the proper way to deal with significant issues such as serious bleeding, chest injuries, a compromised airway, spinal injuries, broken bones, and more following M.A.R.C.H. protocols. TECC training includes bleeding control and shock management, airway management, Bag Valve Mask (BVM) ventilation, and emergency patient movement in an unsafe environment. This training all boils down to the same thing: sustaining the life of the patient until he or she can be delivered to the emergency room. This class follows the current Committee for TECC guidelines for active bystanders. After successful completion students will receive TacMed 1 TECC, Emergency First Aid, and Stop the Bleed Certification.
TacMed 2: TECC Emergency Medical Care ($150* / 4hrs)
- Our TacMed 2 Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Emergency Medical Care class continues where TacMed 1 ends. TacMed 2 TECC training builds on the Emergency First Aid Fundamentals knowledge base but focuses on the application of that knowledge in a tactical environment. TacMed 2 TECC training includes a review of patient assessment, bleeding control and shock management, then spend time on treating medical emergencies, CPR/AED, airway management, Bag Valve Mask (BVM) ventilation, and emergency patient movement in an unsafe environment. We will also review techniques used by EMTs for emergency oxygen administration via non-rebreather mask, spinal immobilization, long bone immobilization, joint immobilization, and more. This is a physical course and might not be for everybody. We will be moving "patients", kneeling, and practicing on the ground. This class follows the current Committee for TECC guidelines for active bystanders. After successful completion students will receive TacMed 2 TECC, Emergency First Aid and Stop the Bleed Certification.
